In Paris I discovered a sneaker with a name really hard to pronounce… Feiyue « Feî-ué » is Chinese and means “Flying Forward”. Originated in Shanghai in the 1920s the shoes became famous during the 30’s for their robustness, flexibility and comfort which were considered essential requirements for martial arts and various forms of athletics. According to Chinese tradition, Feiyue symbolizes the dual elevation of both body and mind. In 2006 a French Company started to produce it’s own Collection under the Label Feiyue. Without losing any of its authentic vintage charm, the little lightweight canvas shoe from Shanghai then underwent a series of transformations. Its codes gradually evolved, combining with French and international influences. Feiyue finds it’s inspiration through it’s many travels and is constantly looking for new ideas. Every year they collaborate with different labels and designers and create great stories.

For this years winter special edition they teamed up with Golden Hook, another great french project I simply love. Golden Hook do all sort of knitted products but the great thing is that grand-mothers are doing all the knitting, as if it’s done by your own granny. For this special project, the two grand-mothers Simone and Danielle, have been doing all the hard work. A perfect set: Sneakers with a matching 100% wool cap  for Dad’s as well as their Kids. Only 500 pairs are produced and we got 10 exclusively for Switzerland. Available only on Mooris.ch starting from the 19th of october!

Last year I was lucky enough to spend beautiful holidays at CasaBramasole – this year I stay at home but with the TAVOLATA it feels a little like enjoying a relaxing night in italy dreaming of summer sounds…

A hidden place in Berlin – Neukölln where you feel like in Italy… An old laundry offers the atmosphere for this real Trattoria. The best way to explore and find these places is to rent a bike and just start cruising the streets! Lavanderia offers daily Lunch and a fixed Dinner menu, which sounded amazing but unfortunately I had no reservation for the evening… so I had to come back the next day por un buon piatta di pasta al pesto. And it was really worth it!

I like to travel alone but when it comes to dinner it always feels a little strange to go to a restaurant on my own. So I was glad to come across The Parlour Dinners,  a series of events that take place in Berlin Mitte. Laurin told me that he doesn’t call himself a professional cook but the food, the atmosphere the whole evening was even better than in most of the “real” restaurants. I enjoyed being a guest and to experience how other people create their pop-up Dinners like I do my TAVOLATA.

I especially like the Idea that Laurin combines his cooking project with a friend who does handmade furniture – so the showroom becomes a restaurant and vice versa.
Their claim: the project is a homage to quality food, dining culture and unique handmade wooden furniture, is definitely true!

Another reason to stay and enjoy summer in Zurich: Frau Gerolds Garten!
A garden in the city to grow vegetables, herbs and plants – a place for gardening and to relax and enjoy fresh food and drinks. I think this is just great and I’m happy that Frau Gerold is just 2 Minutes bike drive from Herr Albisriederplatz, the place I live…

Yesterday at Sport Bar in Zurich I had the chance to try out  “Gents”, the new Swiss Roots Tonic Water. Designed and marketed by the Zurich Startup Gents GmbH, this truly refreshing Drink is made carefully out of Swiss ingredients.  Among the traditional quinine from chinese bark they use the extract of yellow gentian (GENT is named after the Gentiana Lutea), which is won out of the extract from the roots of gentian that grows in the Swiss Jura. I’m looking forward to introduce GENT to Mr Hendrick’s and Monkey 47… Summer can come!

Restaurant Day Zürich N°1 was a lot of fun: a sunny day with very lovely decorated places – good food – interesting people. It’s was so wonderful to see people enjoying the food carnival – we go a lot of very positive feedback and are looking forward to the next International Restaurant Day. We are sure to beat our score of 13 Zurich Restaurants and hopefully are able to inspire other cities in switzerland!

A big thanks to Helsinki for sharing this great concept and for all the Swiss Restaurants who were so courageous to participate. Claudia, Corina& Lea
